the ohio man who held three woman captive in his home for nearly a decade has committed suicide. ariel castro was found hanging in his cell at the correctional reception center in orient last night. let's began in the weather and traffic center. first with george raft. the >>george: there had been a stall in the southbound direction it is gone now. it

castro was sentenced august 1st to life in prison plus 1,000 years on his guilty plea to 937 counts including kidnapping and rape. his cousin wonders if it was really a suicide. the three women he held captive disappeared separately between 2002 and 2004, when they were 14, 16 and 20 years old. they escaped may 6, when one of >>: what my initial thought was did he really do this to himself or possibly someone else have gotten to him. obviously it is in jail. there's a lot of criminals behind those bars. and even some of those criminals and some of the horrible things they may have done obviously probably were not as bad as the things he did and you know people always have an eye out for someone that has done something horrible as these things that he's done

so i really have to wonder but i guess at this point it really doesn't matter. you know they say that the suicide is a cowardly thing and obviously he took the cowardly way out but i still find it hard to believe that with everything he did he somehow mustered up the the strength or the so-called courage to take his own life. >>mark: the women broke part of a door and yelled to neighbors for help. castro was arrested that evening. we have not heard from the three women yet. we are waiting for a statement from them sometime this morning. >>james:new this morning. in san francisco crews are cleaning up after a car crashed into an apartment building early this morning. this is video from the scene

of the crash on the 15- hundred block of franklin street. according to san francisco police the suspect crashed into a vacant building when making a possible illegal turn. a building inspector says the car went 15-feet into the building. no injuries have been reported. we're following a developing story out of san leandro. a body was found inside a trailer that caught fire early this morning. here's video of the scene. the flames broke out at the estudillo trailer park on grand avenue around 3-30. the fire was knocked down in about 10 minutes. the mobile home was destroyed. the cause of the fire is under investigation. and >>darya:police are still searching for the hit & run driver. who was involved in a crash that killed two women on monday in san jose.

the victims have been identified as carmen zavala and cristina deleon castro. an emotional vigil was held last night for the two victims at the intersection of skyport drive and north first street in san jose where the accident happened. family members of the victims say they hope the driver who caused this accident will be arrested soon. police are still searching for the hit & run driver. who was involved in a crash that killed two women on monday in san jose. the victims have been identified as carmen zavala and cristina deleon castro. tonight, kron 4's scott rates attended an emotional vigil for the two victims. the c-h-p says they were following the silver mercedes before the crash happened because they had suspicion that the driver was intoxicated. the >>james:president obama is in sweden ahead of the g-20 summit in st. petersburg russia. this morning the president said the international

park. nearly 236- thousand acres have burned since the fire started august 17th. contained. the san francisco public utilities commissions says, the hetch hetchy reservoir which provides water to 2- point- 6 million san francisco area residents. remains unaffected, despite ash falling on the water.

burst into flames just outside of napa. the accident happened monday night on coombsville road, near first avenue. the c-h-p says christopher stade was speeding when he hit the tree. the truck had major front end damage and caught fire. engulfing stade and his passenger, montana montez. both of them died at the scene. >>darya:in richmond, a man who was shot and killed near the richmond bart station has been identified.

monday night, 30 year old faheim smith was found with a gunshot wound near 19th street and nevin avenue, just east of the bart station. he died at the scene. police say the shooter may have fled on a bicycle. they will look at surveillance video from bart to see if the shooting was caught on video. the debate over racial profiling by police, has led to a new policy in san jose. starting september 1st, officers began following a new procedure. allowing

them to record the ethnicity of people who are detained, but not actually arrested. two years in the making, the new so-called 'limited detention' policy was in part recommended by the city's independent police auditor. amid complaints from minority groups which felt they were being targeted by police. under the new policy, documentation will occur

>>george: welcome back to the kron4 morning news. this is not the result of major incidents. this is a big change in the commute pattern that occurred since labor day weekend. traffic is back in full force. that's why we're looking at a nearly 40 minute drive time for the e shore freeway with a style that line from know all the way down toward emeryville. even five it westbound a starting to back up now toward highway 24. that's new. at the 680 ride into walnut creek once again very heavy coming out of concord and coming out of 242. both of those rude southbound are heavier than usual. and the

580 ride back up into livermore. for the second day in the route is to backing up around a corner. this out 680 pleasanton traffic which had been a hot spot earlier this morning after problems were cleared. the south bay is not immune from all this heavy traffic. 101 north bound over 32 minutes to drive time from 85 to the montague expressway and this is a really slow commute out of downtown san jose. heading out toward cupertino. a 28 minute drive time from here to here. that should take about 11 to 12 to minutes even during normal commute traffic as we look first to the bay bridge commute. westbound starting to back up to the macarthur maze and the 880 approach backing up as well. is starting to get
